NJIPLA to Honor Chief IP Counsel of Johnson & Johnson with Jefferson Medal

Robert E. Rudnick, a Director in the Gibbons Intellectual Property Department and the President of the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association, is pleased to announce that the 2013 NJIPLA Jefferson Medal Dinner will take place on Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Hilton Short Hills, NJ. For 63 years the NJIPLA Jefferson Medal has been presented to someone who has made outstanding contributions to the field of intellectual property. In the past, the Jefferson Medal has been presented to judges, leaders of the Intellectual Property Bar and Patent & Trademark Office officials. The 2013 medalist is Philip S. Johnson, the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel of Johnson & Johnson. This year’s dinner will honor Mr. Johnson’s accomplishments in the realm of intellectual property.

Gibbons Director Rob Rudnick Elected President of the NJIPLA; “Electronics, Telecom and Software Patent Practice Update” Event Rescheduled for 1/24/13

Gibbons P.C. is pleased to announce that Robert E. Rudnick, a Director in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, has been appointed President of the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association (NJIPLA). Mr. Rudnick has been an NJIPLA board member for the past four years. The New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association (NJIPLA) is an organization consisting of more than 300 practicing intellectual property attorneys, patent agents, law students, and interested individuals, primarily from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Chambers annually rates the nation’s leading business lawyers and law firms through comprehensive interviews with top companies, attorneys, and business executives, plus extensive supplementary research.

Gibbons Intellectual Property Department Chair Listed in New Jersey Super Lawyers

David E. De Lorenzi, Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, was listed in New Jersey Super Lawyers as a leader in his field. Overall, 69 Gibbons attorneys were listed in New Jersey Super Lawyers and New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars. The Super Lawyers selection process comprises hundreds of thousands of statewide or regional surveys supplemented by a comprehensive examination of each nominee’s background and experience, focusing on such criteria as verdicts and settlements; transactions; representative clients; honors and awards; educational background; and other outstanding achievements. Only 5 percent of the total lawyers in the state are selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers. Those receiving the highest point totals in the nomination process are included in the statewide top 100 attorney and top 50 women attorney lists.

IP Licenses in Bankruptcy Webinar!

The recently announced Kodak bankruptcy has focused much needed attention on the intersection of bankruptcy law with IP rights. Gibbons P.C., with robust bankruptcy and IP practices, will be participating in a live webinar on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm to address the impact of the Bankruptcy Code on IP licenses. The webinar will feature an update on case law developments and practical tips for dealing with IP licenses in a bankruptcy. Participants will be invited to a live Q & A session with the speakers at the end of the panel discussion. CLE credit will be available.
